Les has been in the aerial and satellite industry since he set up his company in 1988, prior to which he taught for ten years, reaching the post of head of physics at a local secondary modern school. He has also had experience in the cut-throat world of sales, as a representative for a very large office supplies company, and was a director of an exhibition company that organised Classic Car Shows throughout the UK.
Les has kept his business small with just two vehicles, but has experience in many aspects of the industry, from the small domestic job to complete IRS and SMATV installations throughout the country. With the push for broadband internet access in rural areas, TV & Satellite have a contract for the installation of wireless systems in villages around Buckinghamshire.
Les has served on the board since 1997, with a break of 2 years between 2000 and 2002. He chairs both the Education & Skills and Technical Committees. These committees are responsible for the implementation of the CAI Structured Training Programme, making sure courses are relevant for the industry and keeping up with new technology and all aspects of technical issues within the industry including the CAI Codes of Practice. His teaching background made him an ideal tutor for CAI training courses and is responsible for the delivery of the distance learning course – ‘IRS and MATV Networks’. He is also a regular contributor to Feedback. |
