This course has been designed to provide Aerial Installers with an awareness course of the electrical installation requirements in a dwelling.  The course will provide a basic electrical competency.  The course starts with a reminder of the need for risk assessment in health & safety legislation, the part “P” Regulations and a refresher on fundamental dangers of electricity.  The theme continues with the requirements of an installation, new circuit of minor works to BS 7671:2008.  The course provides circuit wiring practicals, testing requirements and a specific module on Earthing and Bonding for safety.

                                Temporary bonding for safety

                Practical Wiring
                                Installation of a ring, and radial circuit
                                Single switch lighting
                                Two way switch lighting
                                Bonding to the installation
                                Practical Testing and completion of a minor works certificate
               

Learning style
The course is modular providing both theory and practical requirements of electrical installations.  During the course the delegates will wire a number of domestic circuits to provide in depth knowledge of the installation requirements including earthing and bonding and the possible functional need to bond aerial systems.  The requirements to inspect and test, work carried out in the domestic installation will be explained and practical testing with a completion of the required form to BS 7671:2008.

The course is suitable for all Aerial Installers who have a need to know the dangers of electricity and the basics of domestic wiring installations.  The requirements of Earthing and Bonding for both Safety and Functional purposes are covered.
