This course will update an existing Basic TV & Satellite Installation CAI certification. Filling knowledge gaps resulting from more digital installations as opposed to analogue it will also raise awareness of the necessity to record signal levels. There will be the need to demonstrate good working relationships with others and increase awareness of safe working procedures
Content
- Record signal levels from terrestrial and satellite antennas
- Competent use of cable stripping tools, connectors and signal measuring equipment
- (Possible outdoor alignment of DTT aerial and DTH dish)
- Explain the format of the day
- Show all students the work areas, tools & resources including the outdoor work area
- Detail the H&S issues associated with the Training Area of Communications House
- Describe the work assignments that will be completed by everyone
Learning style
This is mainly a practical workday based on assignments the delegates carry out. There are a number of exercises for all student/engineers to complete during the course
- Making connections and using the right connectors - safely
- Taking measurements using the appropriate test equipment
- Recording the measurements on sample documents for assessment
- The Knowledge Check
- Installing the necessary antenna to provide useable signals to the TV receiving equipment terrestrial and satellite
Who should attend?
The course is only available for those who completed the CAI’s Basic TV & Satellite Installation Courses over 3 years ago. No other applications for attendance will be accepted.

Certification Successful delegates will receive an updated CAI Basic Installer Certificate upgrading their certification for use as underpinning knowledge towards NVQ Level 2.
