Foundation Diploma in Signal Reception (CAI Members Only)

R
Your gateway to obtaining a CSCS Card.

CSCS Card Image 1Recent difficulties relayed by members to the CAI regarding obtaining CSCS cards for site work drove us into contacting CSCS for a defining statement on the matter as it seems to be an ever perplexing issue.  Members still find it hard to undergo the process necessary to prove competence for a skills card.  This is also a forewarning that if you cross construction site boundaries and have so far managed to do so without being asked to produce a skills card then there is every chance you will soon be caught out.  It is proving more and more essential that workers from all trades prove their competence and will be asked do so by being qualified in the work they do.

A route of entry was agreed with CSCS a while ago once the NVQ proved too difficult to find locally and to quote their Schemes Co-ordinator;

... The Assessed Route of Entry and in order to gain this, applicants must have achieved the CAI Foundation Level Diploma in Signal Reception (CAI- Trade Association for Content Delivery).

Health, Safety and Environment Test
There is no longer Industry Accreditation open for this occupation.  If people have achieved the above they must also pass the Working at Heights level Health, safety and environment test and they can then apply for the card.  Further information on the Working at Heights test and how to book can be found via the following link - http://www.citb.co.uk/hsandetest.

Requirements to obtain a CAI Foundation Diploma
Each person who wishes to obtain the diploma will need to have attended 2 of the following courses:
Basic Aerial Installation
Basic Satellite Installation
An Introduction to IRS
Home Networking & Connectivity
(please note that if the candidate has been in his/her job for longer than 5 years but has not attended any of the above course we can go down the experienced worker pathway route)

The following 2 courses must be completed:

  1. Valid Safe Working at Heights certificate (copy to be provided to the CAI office upon enrolment onto the diploma). A CAI Refresher Assessment can be carried out for CAI members.
  2. CAI Making the Bond Training Course

Once the above has been dealt with then there will be a practical work based assessment that will be carried out by one of our assessors to finalise the diploma.

If you wish to obtain a quote on the diploma cost please email Amanda Ward on This email address is being protected from spambots.
