Become a Member

CAI is different from most trade associations in that applicants for membership have to undergo the assessment process to check they comply with CAI standards prior to being accepted into membership.  Consumers choosing a CAI member to advise or complete the work they require are assured of competence and compliance.

Requirements

To achieve the CAI accreditation, members must;

  • Work to standards outlined in CAI's Codes of Practice and British Standards

  • Be continually re-assessed to ensure standards are maintained

  • Use quality, tested  equipment verified by CAI's Certification Scheme

  • Guarantee all installations and equipment used for 12 months

  • Be fully insured to cover all aspects of the business scope

  • Prove they employ a competent and reputable work force

  • Hold a minimum of 12 months trading history

Assessment

The company assessment is carried out by a CAI Assessment Officer who will contact the applicant to arrange an appointment to visit the business. The business will be assessed on the following three key areas:

  • Organisation – work is programmed and recorded coherently.

  • Workmanship – in accordance with CAI Codes of Practice.

  • Customer Service – adheres to the CAI Code of Conduct.

A report will be issued by the Assessment Officer to CAI's Board of Directors for approval.  Use of CAI's logo is not permitted until you have received a CAI membership number and hold a valid membership certificate. Any instances of logo mis-use, will be reported to Trading Standards and will halt the application process for a further 12 months.
