Netflix Raises UK Prices, with Cheapest Tier Up by a Third

Netflix has increased the price of all three of its UK subscription plans, with its cheapest ad-supported tier seeing the largest rise. The Standard with Ads plan has increased by 33.4%, from £5.99 to £7.99 per month.

The ad-free Standard plan has risen from £12.99 to £13.99 per month, while the Premium plan has increased from £18.99 to £20.99. The latest changes represent increases of 7.7% and 10.5% respectively.

The price of adding an extra member has also increased. The add-on with adverts has risen from £4.99 to £5.99 per month, while the ad-free option has increased from £5.99 to £6.99.

The latest increase follows another UK price rise in February, making this Netflix’s second UK pricing increase of the year. Existing subscribers will receive advance notification of the change, with the timing of the new price depending on their billing cycle.

Netflix said the latest pricing changes reflect improvements to its range of entertainment and the quality of its service. The company continues to invest in original programming and has more new and returning titles planned for the UK market.

The increase comes as competition in the UK streaming market continues to intensify, with consumers facing growing choices alongside rising subscription costs. For Netflix, the significant increase to its entry-level ad-supported tier also highlights the changing economics of advertising-supported streaming.
